Setting Up Heygo for Your First Run

Heygo S1 is a motion sensor built for snowboarding. It comes as two units — one for each foot — that clip onto your boots and capture what you're doing on snow.
So what do you need to do before your first day out?
Before you leave (do all of this at home)
□ Both sensors in the dock
□ App downloaded and signed in
□ Pairing Code scanned
□ Firmware updated (if prompted)
□ Profile filled in
□ Clipped to your boots (or do this at the mountain)

Step 1: Get Heygo paired at home (about 5 minutes)

Set it up at home so you can just ride when you arrive.

1. Charge first

Put both Heygo S1 units in the dock and plug the dock into USB-C. As long as they're powered, you can carry on, and both pairing and the firmware update need the two units sitting in the dock with power the whole time.

2. Download the app and sign in

Search Heygo on the App Store or Google Play, then pick how you want to sign in.

You'll get a verification code. Entering it moves you straight on — there's no confirm button.

3. Scan the QR code on the box

There's a QR code printed on the bottom right of the back of the box — that's your Pairing Code. If it won't scan, the activation email sent to the address you bought with has the same code, and you can type it in by hand.
That one scan puts this set of devices under your account: every Run Report, every Day Report and your HeygoIQ are all recorded there from then on. It also locks the devices to your account, so nobody who finds or gets hold of them can take them over.
Before scanning, the app asks for two permissions: the camera (to scan the code) and Bluetooth (to connect the devices). You need to grant both.

4. Connect

Once the devices have been charging in the dock they power on by themselves, so when you scan the code on the box they connect automatically.
If the connection runs into trouble, follow the prompts on screen — this article also lists the common failures and what to do about each one further down. If none of it helps, the Help Center in the app has more, or you can contact us.

5. Update the firmware (if prompted)

Once connected, the app may tell you a firmware update is required. Don't skip it. Leave both devices in the dock and keep them powered for the whole update — don't take them out partway.

6. Tell your coach who you are

Four short questions:
① What should we call you? This is how your coach will address you, and it's the name that shows up on leaderboards later.
② What's your stance? Regular (left foot forward) or Goofy (right foot forward), with optional binding angles below. Do not get this backwards. Heygo uses left-versus-right foot data to tell your toe edge from your heel edge — set the stance wrong and every edge call in your reports is inverted.
③ What's your riding level? Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Expert. Pick whichever actually sounds like you — it's a reference point for your coach, nothing more.
④ A few details — gender, height, weight.

Step 2: How to wear Heygo on your boots

Each unit goes into its own clip first; the clip is what attaches to your boot.

Fit the unit into the clip

Line the catch on the back of the unit up with the opening in the clip, drop it in and turn it clockwise until the metal ball on top of the unit seats into the round hole inside the clip. Watch which way up it goes — upside down will affect your data.

Clip them to your boots

Clip each unit to the outside of the matching boot — L on your left foot, R on your right. Don't swap them, and don't mount them anywhere but the outside of the boot.
There's a walkthrough in the app too, at Profile > Device Settings > How to wear.

Step 3: Start riding

That's everything ready — all that's left is to get to the mountain. Open the app, tap Go in the middle of the tab bar, then tap Start Riding in the top left, and Heygo rides with you.
Hearing nothing on your first few runs is normal, not broken. Those early runs are calibration: Heygo is working out your riding rhythm and your habits.

One more thing worth checking when you arrive: make sure the devices are still connected to the app. If one has powered off, press and hold the button on the side of the unit to turn it back on.

Heygo won't connect? Troubleshooting

“The app can't find my Heygo”

Take the devices out of the dock and put them back in → check both are properly seated → check both are charging → move your phone closer to the devices.

“Only one sensor connected”

Usually the other one isn't seated properly or is out of charge. Reseat both, confirm both are charging, then reconnect.

“The QR code won't scan”

Normally low light, or a scuffed or glared code. Move somewhere brighter and hold the phone steady.

“I tapped Don't Allow on the Bluetooth prompt”

The whole connection runs over Bluetooth, so it won't work without it. Find Heygo in your system settings, turn Bluetooth on, and retry.

“I lost signal partway through”

Pairing needs a network check. Move somewhere with better reception and retry — the steps you've already completed are safe.

After your first day

After your first day you'll have a Day Report that's entirely yours. Don't read too much into the score — it needs enough riding before it settles, and day one is really just you and Heygo getting to know each other.
You might want to share it, though. We genuinely want to see what everyone's first day with Heygo looks like.
